On a completely different note...

What have you guys been reading and learning?

I've been trying to finish up Pilgrim's Progress for a while. I'm always reading that book in fits and starts. Maybe it's because I often find it incredibly convicting and am far too afraid to continue reading. I've found a couple sections simply incredible. I've already posted on one on my blog, maybe I'll post on another in the near future.

What about you guys?

I've been reading "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins, "Dr. Public Science" at Oxford. This book has much "sturm und drang," but little content. . . . I am thinking of blogging through this book. . . . Lord willing. :)

P.Ting!! you should join our blog. If I could get McChu to invite you...

I got the book "Darwin on Trial" by Phil Johnson (not of pyromaniacs) and I was going to read through that. After my thesis is finished, that is. If it ever finishes... Lord willing.

I've got a few books I'm working through (slowly) right now.

"Systematic Theology" by Wayne Grudem
"Heaven" by Randy Alcorn
"Living by the Book" by Howard and William Hendricks
"The Discipline of Grace" by Jerry Bridges
"In Search of Certainty" by Josh McDowell and Thomas Williams

I want to get my hands on a copy of "The God Delusion." Of course, from what I've heard, he doesn't even bring out the best arguments against theism, just the most emotionally appealing ones...

I'd also like to read something that ISN'T theology/Christian living. Any biographies you guys would recommend? I've been noticing quite a few people reading those.

evan, al mohler posted a list of good christian biographies. I've personally read the Jonathan Edwards one and Martin Luther ones, those are both really good.

I'm in the middle of Piper's "Let the Nations Be Glad" and hope to finish it before I head to South Africa. I'm also in the middle of his "Pleasures of God." It's a thick book, VERY good. Mmm, I've been wanting to tackle Pilgrim's Progress, too.

i have a really hard time reading/finishing piper. maybe it's because he always pushes to the ultimate conclusion in things, that it's going to invariably end up at the Glory of God. which is awesome. but makes for repetitive reading.

i need to stop responding to everyone's comments.

Evan - I've got both Edwards and Luther, and would highly recommend both. Edwards is longer, but very well researched and paints an incredible picture of him. Luther is a bit shorter, but very good as well.

I just finished "Sacred Marriage" by Gary Thomas and now I'm working on "Tell the Truth," a fabulous book on evangelism by Will Metzger. And I just started Vincent Cheung's Presuppositional Confrontations (thanks Ting!)

P.S. Evan, I'd love to hear what you think of Randy Alcorn's book when you finish it
